Competition Rules

Nimble Fingers 6-8 and 9-11 years

  1. This competition runs for duration of 5 minutes. Once the competitor finishes before allotted time they have to shout “Lego Olympics”. If not done 5 seconds will be added to the competitor final time.

  2. Once the five (5) minutes are up for the round, all contestants must stop when the Time keeper indicates that time is up. If not, 5 seconds will be added to your time.

  3. All contestants will have a practice session before the competition.  Please ensure you practice before your session.  All practice for the competition will occur just before that round not before.  Each contestant will get a five (5) minute practice with the model.

  4. For the competition instructions will be provided to all contestants.  Instructions are not to be removed from the competition area. Contestants can practice and compete with the model in any order or any model first. 

  5. Please indicate to the time keeper which model you will be starting with, so they can have that model instruction on top for you.

  6. There shall be no helping of each other; if a Lego piece falls someone will retrieve it for you.

  7. Only the LEGO Separator or your hands can be used to separate the Lego from the model.  No placing Lego in a contestant mouth will be allowed.  This is for competition areas.

  8. NO LEGO IS TO BE REMOVED FROM COMPETITION AREAS. IF FOUND TO HAVE REMOVE ANY PIECE THE CONTESTANT OR THEIR PARENT WILL HAVE TO PAY $100 FOR REPLACEMENT OF SET AND DISQUALIFICATION FROM ALL COMPETITIONS

  9. No parent or guardian is to assist any child with the building of the model for the competition. Parents or guardians are allowed only in the practice area with their child.

  10. All onlookers should stand at least five (5) feet away from the competition tables, this will allow the time keeper to capture the exact time when the contestant is finish, no onlookers shall be behind a contestant. On lookers are allow either on the side or in front of the competition tables.

  11. Parent or contestants are not allowed to speak to the time keeper when the competition is in progress.  Once the round is completed please view all results on the media board provided.  All times are final, only the Lego Club judges can adjust or change times.

  12. During the competition the judge will inform the contestants the remaining time. So when 2 minutes has elapsed the contestant will be told of this, when 4 minutes have elapsed they will be informed that they only have one (1) remaining.

  13. If no one was able to complete the round in the five (5) minutes time window, then when the time keeper indicates time is up all the contestants must stop.  The judges will review each model completeness. They will view the number of Lego pieces still to be assembled and from this review select a winner for the round to move to the next stage.

  14. Penalties will also be applied for the following:-

    1. If a contestant finishes before and shout Lego Olympics but when the judges review the model LEGO pieces are either mismatch or in the wrong place or doesn’t look like the model via instructions, time will be added on.  So if the contestant has mismatch colours then 1 second will be added to how many mismatch colours they have.

  • Example:-  if a contestant have 2 mismatch colours then 2 seconds will be added to their final time.

  • If the wrong Lego piece is used then 3 seconds will be added on how many wrong pieces are used.

  • Example of wrong pieces calculation – contestant have 2 wrong pieces then 6 seconds will be added to their final time.

  • If the model doesn’t appear to what is on the box or via instructions then 1 minute will be added to their final time

    1. If the contestant is helped in any way, 2 minutes will be added on to their final time.

    2. The judge person who will determine what times to be added after reviewing the completed models

Be Creative on Spot 6-8 and 9-11 years

  1. This aspect of the competition runs for duration of 10 minutes. Should the contestant finish before    allotted time they must shout “Lego Olympics”

  2. Once the allocated time has expired, all contestants must stop when the Time keeper tells them to.

  3. There shall be no helping of each other; if a Lego piece falls an official will retrieve the fallen piece.

  4. Only the LEGO Separator or your hands can be used to separate the Lego from the model. There shall be no placing of the Lego piece into the contestant’s mouth.  This is for competition areas.

  5. NO LEGO SETS ARE TO BE REMOVED FROM COMPETITION AREA.  ANYONE (PARENT OR CONTESTANT) FOUND GULITY OF REMOVING ANY OF THE PIECES OR SETS WILL BE FINED THE SUM OF $200.00 AND OR MAY RESULT IN DISQUALIFICATION FROM THIS AND ALL FUTURE COMPETITIONS.

  7. All spectators should stand at least five (5) feet away from the competition tables; this will allow the time keeper to capture the exact time when the contestant is finished.

Technic Challenge 8 -17 years
