Competition Tips

Top Tips for Winning a LEGO Competition

1. Know Your Deadline!
Always double-check the submission date and time. Whether the deadline is a month away or just a few days, planning ahead makes all the difference—especially if you need extra parts or time to refine your build.

2. Learn from the Best!
Take inspiration from past winners. Look at what made their entries stand out. If you’re unsure about something, don’t hesitate to ask—LEGO enthusiasts are usually more than happy to share tips and advice.

3. Build to Win!
Design your model with intention and creativity. Stay true to your vision while making the best use of the pieces you have. Aim for color accuracy, experiment with unique techniques, and don’t be afraid to add a bit of humor or a surprising twist—these touches can make your build memorable.

4. Make It Personal!
While not always required, adding a backstory to your build can significantly boost your chances. Share what inspired your design, the challenges you faced, and what you learned during the process. A compelling and personal story can make your model truly come to life in the eyes of the judges.

5. Go the Extra Mile!
Even if the rules don’t call for a detailed presentation, taking the time to present your entry neatly and professionally can set you apart. A well-thought-out display and clear photos or descriptions can enhance even a simple model.

6. Bring It All Together!
Before submitting your entry, double-check everything—from build quality to presentation and story. Aim to impress with not just your LEGO creation, but your overall effort and attention to detail.

7. Practice and Present with Confidence!
Rehearse what you'll say if you're presenting in person. Talk about your concept, the challenges you overcame, and what inspired you. Listen carefully to any questions from the judges and answer clearly. Stay calm, be confident, and let your passion for LEGO shine through.

And most importantly… HAVE FUN!
Win or lose, enjoy the experience and be proud of your creativity. Good luck!
